THE true size of Britain's junk email problem has been highlighted in a new report.

The latest figures from email filtering specialists MessageLabs show spam accounts for 70 per cent of all emails worldwide.

A huge chunk of spam, around 40 per cent, is health-related, such as those annoying Viagra and diet pill messages which clog up inboxes every day.

Surprisingly, pornography only accounts for about 4.8 per cent of junk email.

Despite measures being taken to eliminate junk email, MessageLabs predicts spam levels in the UK will rise to 83 per cent by the end of the year.
