BRITISH people are addicted to text messaging.

Latest figures from the Mobile Data Association (MDA) show 2.13 billion texts were sent during March, an increase of 25 per cent on the same period the previous year.

This figure was a new record, with an average of around 69 million text messages being sent every day in the UK.

The real amount of texts sent is actually higher than the number released by the MDA because only messages sent between individuals are counted.

Texts sent by marketing companies and those sent to TV and radio stations are excluded.
