PHISHING has become a big problem on the internet, with the cost to banks being put at £1 million, and rising.

The most common kind of phishing involves people being asked for their banking details.

People are sent an email which claims to be from their bank. The email states there has been a security breach and asks the recipient to respond with their account details and password. Fraudsters then use that information to steal money from the account.

The advice is never to respond to any email which asks for account details or passwords, and to contact your bank if you are suspicious about an email.
