THE only survivor of a litter of puppies orphaned when her mother had to be put down, is now looking for a home.
Berry, a Yorkshire Terrier cross, was smaller than a mug when she was placed in the care of the RSPCA less than five weeks ago.
But following intensive care from staff at the charity's Hillingdon branch, at nearly nine weeks old, she is doing well and is ready to find a home of her own.
Irene Hansford, the branch's spokesman, said: "Berry had a very sad start to her life, losing all her siblings and then her mother, but she is a real fighter who is now fighting fit and ready to start a new life with a new family in the New Year."
The only survivor of a litter of five puppies, Berry lost her geriatric mother who suffered organ failure and was put down by a vet.
At just over four weeks old, she would not normally have been separated from her mother and had to be cared for by RSPCA staff.
Anyone interested in offering a home to Berry, or any another dog, can call the RSPCA's Hillingdon branch on 01895 833 417.
The charity has asked anyone who is unable to offer a suitable home to a dog, but would like to help, to make a donation instead.
