Aspiring actress through to regional singing competition final
An aspiring actress from Pinner has shown she has more than one string to her bow.
Last month Savannah Gevell, 18, of Rickmansworth Road, entered the open mic Teen Star competition where she performed Katy Perry’s Fireworks during her audition.
She made it through to the next stage which will be held at the Beck Theatre in Hayes on March 16.
Ms Gevell, a year 13 student at Stanmore College, is studying performing arts and hopes to go to Central School of Speech and Drama next year and become a West End actor.
She said: “I have started to get used to performing so I don’t really get nervous anymore.
“I have been singing for about three or four years now so when I sing it feels really natural.”
The 18-year-old says she hasn’t chosen the song she will sing but is considering something by Paloma Faith.
The winner will go through to the national final at the 02 Arena and have the chance to win £20,000 worth of prizes including £5,000 to develop their talent.
Ms Gevell added: “I have been playing piano since I was 11 and I think I’m quite musical.
“Getting to the final would be really cool and I’m excited about the chance.
“I’m sure I’ll be nervous on the day but all my friends and family will be there to support me and they will help keep me calm.”
