After relegation from the Premiership last season, Watford FC owner Mr Gino Pozzo took a lot of criticism from Hornets fans regarding his decision to part company with three managers during the 2019-20 season. I wrote a letter to the Editor of the Watford Observer asking Hornets fans to not have selective memories and not to cherry pick one poor season out of eight.

Once again Premiership football is back again at the Vic, Mr Pozzo must have the feeling of satisfaction after his decision to part company with coach Vladimir Ivic and replace him with rookie coach Xisco Munoz. Now that Mr Pozzo has provided Watford FC fans with eight good seasons out of nine since he arrived at the Vic in 2012, a special word of thanks must go to him for all his hard work and skills to accomplish bringing back Premiership football for Hornets fans. Also extra special thanks to the players and staff are in order for their exceptional physical and mental achievements at bringing back Premiership football to the Vic AND Hornets supporters. Lastly, but not least, a big thank you must go to Xisco Munoz for making the decision to come to Watford. His special ability and expertise as a football coach was outstanding and his communicational skills with his players and the media have been a joy to listen to.

One of Graham Taylor’s distinctive philosophies and standards of judgement of what we do in our lives can be found in this often repeated quote, “Leave your mark at the club and in life not just by what you achieve but how you achieve it”. Mr Pozzo, Mr Munoz and Watford FC players and staff can certainly acquaint themselves with the great man’s words of wisdom and integrity as to how they achieved their task.
