Laying out his budget this week, Chancellor Rishi Sunak extended the Stamp Duty holiday to October.

The stamp duty holiday, which applies in England and Northern Ireland, had been due to end on March 31.

However, the extension means prospective homeowners looking at homes valued at £500,000 will not have to pay any stamp duty on the purchase up until October.

The Chancellor’s extension of the scheme – which had been due to run for nine months – could save the average homebuyer over £2,000.
