A burst water main has caused gridlock this morning.
Police have closed the A41 near Bushey and the road has been shut since at least 4am.
The closure is in place between the Hartspring roundabout by the Toby Carvery restaurant, and Sandy Lane next to McDonald’s, so also includes the A41 entrance into Costco.
Hertfordshire County Council says Affinity Water is currently at the scene fixing the water main but a full road closure has been required.
Police also reported that a tree has fallen.
A41 ELTON WAY, BUSHEY is currently *CLOSED* in both directions between Hartspring Lane & Sandy Lane due to burst pipe and a fallen tree. Please use an alternative route. @Herts_Highways

Inevitably, there have been delays on roads in and around Bushey and Aldenham this morning, with the M1 also affected into Watford from Bricket Wood.
As of 9.20am, most of the queues are just off the A41 in Little Bushey Lane, Sandy Lane, and Hartsping Lane, which motorists are using to bypass the closure.
Traffic on Stephenson Way out of Watford and on the M1 southbound has now cleared.
Workers are at the scene on the A41 – at this stage it is unknown how long the major road will be closed for.
