A school has told several of its pupils to self-isoltate in line with coronavirus guidelines.

Shepherd Primary School in Rickmansworth says that is has asked “a number of pupils” to stay at home before returning after working closely with Public Health England.

A source has told the Watford Observer that a student at the school has tested positive for coronavirus.

Claire Foad, Headteacher at Shepherd Primary School, said: “I can confirm that following government guidelines and having worked closely with PHE, we have asked a number of children from our school to self-isolate before returning to school.

“This is a scenario we have prepared for and unfortunate as it is, we always put the safety of our children, staff and whole school community first. We cannot give any further details as all data is confidential, but we hope all of our children and families remain safe and well and look forward to welcoming them back when we can.”

Elsewhere, pupils at Hartsbourne Primary School in Bushey have also been asked to self-isolate.

The Observer understands that the self-isolating pupils would mainly be from Year 2, after at least one child from that year group tested positive for Covid-19.

It was also confirmed earlier this week that Rickmansworth School in Croxley Green has asked "a number of pupils to self-isolate before returning" after working closely with Public Health England.
