Rubbish which was dumped in the middle of road blocking cars from passing through is still yet to be cleaned up.

Police were called to Croxley View, Watford on Thursday (July 23) at around 5.20pm as vehicles were not able to drive through the road due to a pile of garbage.

Officers said a large amount of rubbish had been tipped from the back of a truck when it was being driven along the road.

It was reported that one of the people in the truck had previously been seen dumping rubbish into a garage block. He then left in the vehicle after he was challenged by neighbours.

The rubbish was moved to the side of the road and Highways were called to clear up the remaining rubbish.

But, one resident said as of today (July 28) the rubbish has still not been cleaned up and the issue was referred to Watford Community Housing.

One neighbour said: "Everything is still there and it's a big mess. It's frustrating and it's filthy.

"It's dangerous for kids, cars can't park there and it's not fair for the people who live here."

Watford Community House has now said it has arranged for the rubbish to be removed from the side of the road tomorrow.

Head of customer relationships for Watford Community Housing Amy Willcox-Smith said: "We are continuing to work to tackle flytipping in our neighbourhoods, which has increased significantly since the start of the coronavirus crisis.

"Our team cleared the waste material that was dumped on Croxley View out of the road immediately after it was reported to us. We will be securing the garage site to deter flytipping in the area.

"Flytipping is a crime and we would encourage people to remain vigilant and report any incidents and information to us so that we can take action."
