Readers have shared their thoughts about the closure of a popular Italian restaurant.

The Observer reported yesterday (July 20) that Zinco, on The Parade, has closed after the company, Zinco Restaurant Ltd, which owns the branch was dissolved.

Two companies under the same ownership but under similar names applied to become dissolved.

The first, Zinco Restaurant Ltd, applied in November last year and it dissolved in February. The second, Zinco Restaurant (Watford) Ltd dissolved in April.

Chris and Jill Green said they would miss Zinco "without question."

They added: "We always enjoyed lunch at Zinco before Watford home matches and did so for more years than we can remember.

"Although we have lived in Kent for some years we remain hornet season ticket holders and part of our visit to Watford was lunch at Zinco.

"Their friendly welcome and excellent food was a major part of our day out - a win helped too.

"Zinco and their lovely staff will be missed."

Stephen Daniel said Zinco was the "best Italian restaurant" in Watford.

He added: "Superior food, quieter and less hectic than other restaurants.

"It had a more romantic and Italian style surroundings. I used to eat there once a week.

"Another great loss for Watford."

Christine Page said: "I love this place and they always made a big fuss of the kids - made them whatever food they wanted even if it wasn't on the menu."

Rob Cassidy said the closure of the restaurant was an "absolute shame".

He added: "Good food, friendly staff and a nice location.

"I had some lovely memorable times there. Hope everyone involved lands on their feet."

Kirsty Ssom said she was "heartbroken" once she heard the news of the closure.

She added: "The friendliest restaurant in town and the best place to eat with children.

"My daughter has had a birthday treat meal there for 14 years - and many other family celebrations."
