This week it was announced how the Government plans to roll out the hire of electric scooters (e-scooters) across towns and cities across Britain - much in the same way as e-bikes - in a bid to fill the void in public transport use due to the coronavirus outbreak.

How ludicrous then that it is still illegal to ride a privately owned e-scooter.

Whilst other countries are embracing the e-scooter revolution, the UK is dragging its heels penalising anyone using these clean zero emission vehicles.

Major cities in the UK are amongst the most polluted in Europe, and with a palpable link between pollution and virus mortality, it comes as no surprise to find death rates from coronavirus mortality second worst in the world.

Archaic legislation lagging light years behind is keeping the UK in the dark ages and costing thousands of lives to end prematurely from air pollution.

E-scooters - as do other two-wheelers - have a huge role to play in twenty-first century transport and it’s high time the law penalised the polluters rather than the zero emission vehicle.
