A jewellery store set to reopen in two weeks will permit customers to try on pieces – with measures in place to ensure items remain safe.

Beaverbrooks, which has a store in intu Watford, will reopen on June 15 following the latest government announcement.

However, life immediately after lockdown will be far from ‘normal’.

Customers will be greeted by protective perspex screens at consultation points, designated team members for shoppers, fewer selling zones, and reduced numbers allowed into stores, but customers will be permitted to try on jewellery.

Beaverbrooks – with 70 stores nationwide – has revealed its plans for reopening safely, which include floor markings and physical boundaries to ensure social distancing for customers and staff.

The jeweller has also outlined the measures to allow customers to try on jewellery.

Limited stock will be rotated on a regular basis and staff will use a specialist cleaning solution to disinfect jewellery between wears, “killing germs without damaging valuable diamonds, jewellery or watches”, Beaverbrook says.

The jewellery chain will also undertake daily temperature checks for team members and hand sanitizer stations at the entrance and throughout the store which will be mandatory for shoppers to use before entering.

Anna Blackburn, managing director at Beaverbrooks, said: “As always, the safety of our people and customers is our number one priority, so we have been working hard behind the scenes to put measures in place to protect them when we reopen our doors.

“Over the past few months, we have been developing comprehensive plans for this reopening, which put safety at the top of the list while ensuring we are able to resume the high level of personal service our customers expect.

“In addition to taking key steps to ensure customers will be able to shop in a safe environment, it was important to us that people would still be able to try on their jewellery before buying – particularly for sentimental items.

“It has been a challenging and uncertain time for all of us, but we are feeling optimistic about the future, our 960 colleagues are looking forward to reopening our doors to welcome customers again in just a few short weeks.”
