A councillor and some of her friends in the community have been lending their support to Watford General Hospital during the coronavirus pandemic.

Councillor Dawn Allen-Williamson has been visiting the hospital delivering supplies to coronavirus patients as well as raising money to help hospital staff.

The Lib Dem Callowland councillor, along with Guy Miller, pastor at Elim Pentecostal Church in St Albans Road, has delivered four Victure MP3 players, following a request from the Chaplain at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Anthony Curran.

The MP3 players, which will allow patients to listen to music, were donated by the Manna food collection at Elim Church.

Councillor Allen-Williamson has also been helping to ensure hospital staff have had access to food and refreshments over the pandemic.

She has worked closely with her community contacts in Watford to help donate hundreds of pounds worth of supplies.

She said: "I am very proud to be a councillor in Watford and the hospital is a crucial part of our community. I was very pleased to be able to help a little in this challenging time."

David Head, from Raise - West Hertfordshire Hospitals' charity - said: "There has been an incredible support from dozens if not hundreds of companies and organisations, and it is links like this that have made a real difference to the front line staff.

"In particular, contributions of food and drink have been very generous and absolutely crucial to sustaining services here over the last couple of months."
