A man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed at the weekend.

Detectives have launched an investigation into an assault that took place in South Oxhey in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police and paramedics were called to reports of a disturbance inside an address in Kenilworth Gardens just before 12.45am.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says a man aged in his 20s was found with a wound to his abdomen, consistent with being stabbed.

He was taken to hospital but he has since been discharged.

Detective Constable Paul Burton said: "We appreciate that there was a large-scale police presence in the cul-de-sac following this incident but we would like to reassure the community that at this stage, we believe both parties involved are known to one another.

"We are treating it as an isolated assault and are currently conducting a number of enquiries. We have already spoken to several people as part of our investigation however if you think you have information which could help us, and you have not yet spoken to police, then please get in touch."

Anyone with any information should call 101 quoting crime reference 41/20911/20.
