A man who was found with Class A drugs on him during a police stop has been jailed.

Ashley Mansaram, 34, of Hillingdon Road, Watford, has been jailed for five years following a three-day trial at St Albans Crown Court which ended last Friday.

The court heard that back on September 9, Mansaram was parked in a white BMW in Rowlands Court, Cheshunt, east Hertfordshire.

Broxbourne Police spotted the BMW and believed the vehicle to be involved in drug supply.

Officers carried out a search of the car and Mansaram.

Class A drugs were found on the Watford man and next to the BMW.

Mansaram was arrested and charged.

At court, he was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, namely heroin and cocaine, and sentenced to five years in prison.

Detective Sergeant Jonathan Leak, who investigated the case, said: "I am pleased that another drug offender has been taken off the streets. This was largely due to excellent proactive police work by members of the Operation Scorpion team.

"We are always working to gain intelligence on criminality involving drugs and I would urge any members of the public who suspect there is drugs activity in their local area to please report it to us."
