Hi! My name is Pixie and I’m a sweet female Syrian hamster looking for a home. The staff here at the National Animal Welfare Trust say I’m a confident hamster and am happy to be gently handled.
I’m looking for a home with adults or families with children of any age as long as the adults supervise the handling. I will need a large cage with plenty of things to play with and explore. I will need a wheel (minimum 28cm) so that I can run, lots of bedding material so that I can dig and a network of tunnels and things to climb. I love my tubes - most days you’ll find me having a snooze in there!
I like to be scatter fed so I can forage for my food and I like the odd bit of fresh veg or even dried meal worm as a treat.
In the wild, we hamsters are ‘crepuscular’, which means we tend to live in burrows underground during the day and come out at night to feed.
Did you know there are 25 species of hamsters? We bond with only one or two people, which means while I may tolerate guests and other family members, I'll only bond with you and possibly one other person. So, if you choose me as your pet, you will feel very special!
If you’re interested in adopting me, email the NAWT at reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2) to arrange a visit.
