Xisco Munoz has confirmed he intends to keep Daniel Bachmann Watford's first choice goalkeeper for the time being.

With the Austrian involved in international fixtures with Austria it looked as if there may be an opportunity for Ben Foster to take the number one spot back.

However, ahead of Friday's game with Sheffield Wednesday, the head coach has given the Austrian his assurances that the place is still his to lose, a move which supporters just about agree with, according to a vote on the Watford Observer website, in which 52 per cent of more than 800 participants said they would keep Bachmann as first choice keeper.

"Danny is the goalkeeper. He gives this level and is important," said Munoz. "We know how important Ben is for us, but also Danny knows what his responsibilities are as the goalkeeper for Watford.

"It's important for me it's very nice when you have two goalkeepers, or three goalkeepers, because also we have Rob in this level.

"For me it's perfect. The most important is our goal is safe because we have three important goalkeepers. And also with Adam too. It's very nice when I have everyone ready to play. Right now we will play Danny, and after we will see what happens. But I think Danny now is in a good moment and he can give us confidence for the team and give us good balance, and whenever he keeps the clean sheets that's important too."
