Adam Masina felt his goal for Watford against Nottingham Forest was "karma" for the chance he missed in the defeat at Bournemouth the week before.

The full-back had a great opportunity to open the scoring in only the third minute away at the Vitality, but headed wide instead of finding the net.

He made no mistake on Saturday when he capitalised on loose ball in the box to fire the Hornets to a 1-0 victory, sending them to second place in the table.

Speaking to the club's matchday broadcast Hive Live after the match, he said it felt good to put the Bournemouth miss behind him.

"Sarr made an amazing action on the other side and tried to give the ball to Andre," said Masina. "The keeper got a touch and I was there in that moment. The winger didn't follow me so I was able to arrive in the box, take my time and take a touch. It was nice it went into the corner.

"In that game [against Bournemouth] I had an opportunity and I was disappointed. This moment was karma, it's back. I'm really, really happy as we know how important this result is if we're to keep pushing on. We knew it was going to be a tough game. Fortunately in the first half we were able to score. They fought until the end, but we won."

As well as pitching in with the goal, Masina was also pleased to contribute to yet another clean sheet, the club's 17th this season, which he feels could be really important come the end of the campaign.

"We tried to kill the game, but the main thing was the clean sheet," he said. "Our season is going to go down to these big things, like the clean sheet. It's so important not to concede a goal and we are going well. I'm really happy for Danny [Bachmann] and all the defenders, I am proud of everyone, and it's not just the defence.

"The whole team is working a lot: João Pedro, Sarr and Sema are helping us a lot. Will Hughes in front is something brilliant. We are really happy. We know how much we need to keep this good moment going.

"We don't look at the table. We just be careful and be ready for the next one. We know we have to keep winning. This is our way. We have to keep smiling and know how lucky we are to do this job. We must just keeping enjoying it."
