Free agent Carlos Sanchez has signed a short-term deal with Watford for the remainder of the season.

The Colombian, who has been without a side since June after leaving West Ham United, has been brought in to bolster the Hornets' midfield until the end of the current campaign, with injuries and suspensions leaving the Hornets short on options in midfield.

Tom Cleverley was substituted during last night's 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers, while Dan Gosling missed out through a hamstring strain.

Head coach Xisco Munoz is unsure of a return date for either, with Cleverley set to undergo further assessment today.

With both Etienne Capoue and Domingos Quina departing in January, and Nathaniel Chalobah still suspended for another match, Sanchez has been brought in to add another experienced option to the team.

As well as playing for West Ham, Sanchez also has experience of playing in England with Aston Villa, where he played from 2014-2017. He has 88 international caps for Colombia.

The 35-year-old will wear squad number 28 and is available for this weekend's game against Nottingham Forest.
