Ken Sema described Watford’s nerve-wracking victory over Blackburn Rovers as “an ugly game” with the Hornets twice having two goal leads cut in half by the home side.

The Swede’s strike midway through the second half turned out to be the deciding finish in a five-goal thriller, as Watford maintain their charge for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Speaking to the club’s matchday broadcast show, Hive Live after the game, Sema Watford were pleased to come away with another important victory.

“Today was a hard game, an ugly game away from home and on a bad pitch,” said the winger.

“It was a war but we came here and played well, we took three points at the end so of course we are really happy.”

Thoughts have now immediately turned to Saturday’s crunch game against Bournemouth, who harbour hopes of promotion themselves.

The Cherries have fallen away slightly in recent weeks, but remain in contention for a playoff spot and will want to get their season back on track as soon as possible.

Sema wants to see the Hornets approach the game with the same fight and spirit they showed at Ewood Park.

“We had to fight, fight, fight, and we got three points,” he said.

“It’s a great team spirit, everyone fights in the games and in training and we are all together in the moment.

“Now we just need to have good recovery and then we go again for the next game.”
