Watford are set to announce the signing of former Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot until the end of the season.
The Watford Observer understands that the shot-stopper has been training with the Hornets and a contract has been signed, with their current options limited by Ben Foster's injury.
The club's number one has been out for a while with a broken finger and is set to miss out on a few more weeks of football just yet.
Recalling third choice keeper Pontus Dahlberg from his loan at BK Hacken is not an option, after he underwent surgery earlier this month for a blood clot behind his collar bone, meaning that currently their only back up is 21-year-old Adam Parkes, who is yet to make a senior appearance in any competition.
Elliot has been without a club since he was released by the Magpies in July last year.
The 34-year-old made 68 appearances for Newcastle for whom he also kept four clean sheets from five Europa League games, and has also represented Charlton Athletic, Accrington Stanley and Notts County.
He will be available for selection from Monday's game against Queens Park Rangers.
