Daniel Bachmann is eyeing up more regular football with Watford after playing in the FA Cup third round against Manchester United.
The Hornets were knocked out of the competition by the Red Devils but Bachmann was one of a number of players to impress during the game despite the result.
Speaking to the club website after the match, the goalkeeper said he hoped his performance has shown he can be relied upon in matches.
“I feel good, like I've got a good bit of form,” he said. “Hopefully the tables will turn soon and I'll be the one playing every three days and not every three months in the cup. That's what I'm here for."
The Austrian knows that being a goalkeeper can lead to lengthy spells on the bench, but said he is always ready to play.
"Everybody wants to play and you always think you should be playing," he said. "You know what you are getting into when you become a goalkeeper: you know there will be tough times along the way and you know it won't be plain sailing. The tables can turn quickly and you have to be ready at a moment's notice. I always train and prepare all week like I'm expecting to play.”
