Lazio defender Jordan Lukaku has revealed that he rejected a loan move to Watford during the summer transfer window.

The brother of former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has said he was given the option to plug left back gap currently left vacant by Adam Masina's injury, but that he did not want to make the move.

Lukaku ended up moving Belgian side Antwerp instead, where he has since struggled to get game time, playing just three minutes of a 1-0 defeat to LASK in the Europa League.

"I had not really decided to leave Rome. Two days before the transfer window was over, Lazio wanted to send me to Watford, but I refused," the full-back said in a recent interview with Het Laatste Nieuws.

"Then, my brother Romelu got in touch with Lucien D’Onofrio. I also asked Peter Smeets, an Agent who is a friend of mine, to close a deal with Club Brugge or Anderlecht.

"However, the first destination would have been difficult given that Lazio was in the same Champions League group as Brugge. As for Anderlecht, the transition would have been complicated, given their financial situation."
