Watford defender William Troost-Ekong will have to wait for the next round of African Cup of Nations qualifiers for his Nigeria side to clinch a place at the finals of the competition.

The Super Eagles drew 0-0 away at Sierra Leone last night keeping them top of their qualifying group, one point ahead of Benin.

The centre-back played all 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet in Freetown, but his teammates were unable to find the win that would have confirmed their place at the tournament, which will be held in Cameroon next year.

They will play Benin and Lesotho in further qualifiers in March.

Meanwhile Ken Sema was an unused substitute as Sweden were beaten 4-2 by World Champions France.

Craig Cathcart is due to play this evening in a Nations League match against Romania.
