Watford will know by the end of today if they will be keeping hold of two of their star players.

Troy Deeney and Ismaila Sarr have both been linked with moves back to the Premier League after the Hornets were relegated to the Championship at the end of last season.

Here is the current situation with both players ahead of the transfer deadline at 5pm today.

Deeney

While Deeney has said he is not actively pushing for a move away and has previously stated he is happy to play in the Championship this season, the club will also not stand in his way should the right offer come in.

The Athletic reported earlier today that Deeney does not want to leave the club, having made his mind up to stay with Watford on Tuesday.

However, the Daily Mail reported that Watford are expecting late offers ahead for Deeney ahead of today's deadline.

Head coach Vladimir Ivic has said Deeney is still the club captain, despite Tom Cleverley assuming the role for the time being in the striker's absence. The coach has also previously stated he expects there to be no definitive solution to the striker's situation until the last minute of the transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspur had both registered interest in the player during the transfer window, although neither materialised any further.

It is believed Spurs are not planning a move at this point, but West Brom could still be swayed should they still feel the need to bolster their attacking options come deadline day.

However sources close to the Baggies have previously suggested that Deeney is not believed to be too high up their list of priorities.

A loan option may end up suiting both parties come Friday if there is still business to be done.

Sarr

Crystal Palace still remain interested in Sarr, although the Hornets are yet to receive a formal offer from the Eagles.

The Watford Observer understands the Eagles made contact with Sarr's representatives as early as the beginning of August with Palace also understood to have tried to sign the player the summer before when he joined the Hornets.

With the domestic transfer deadline coming this evening, there is still time for a move to take place, but Watford will stand firm on their valuation.

But the Hornets remain hopeful that Sarr will stay, but his future is still not entirely assured, with a big deadline day offer a possibility.
