Troy Deeney's Watford future will finally be decided by the end of this week, with the club open to the possibility that he could leave.

The forward will need to find a suitable exit route before the deadline at 5pm on Friday ahead of the Hornets' away match against Derby County.

While the 32-year-old has said he is not actively pushing for a move away and has previously stated he is happy to play in the Championship this season, the club will also not stand in his way should the right offer come in.

Head coach Vladimir Ivic has said Deeney is still the club captain, despite Tom Cleverley assuming the role for the time being in the striker's absence. The coach has also previously stated he expects there to be no definitive solution to the striker's situation until the last minute of the transfer window.

Harrow Times:

West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspur had both registered interest in the player during the transfer window, although neither materialised any further.

It is believed Spurs are not planning a move at this point, but West Brom could still be swayed should they still feel the need to bolster their attacking options come deadline day.

However sources close to the Baggies have previously suggested that Deeney is not believed to be too high up their list of priorities.

A loan option may end up suiting both parties come Friday if there is still business to be done.

Deeney cast doubt on his Watford future on the last day of last season when the Hornets' relegation to the Championship was confirmed with defeat away at Arsenal.
