Founder of the Watford supporter's group, the 1881 movement, Roy Moore, has unveiled a banner outside Watford general hospital thanking NHS staff for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The banner, which was designed by Tom Bennett, who has previously created a number of flags for match days, reads: 'NHS staff, you are all heroes, thank you!' and was put up outside the hospital on Friday evening.

Moore posted a photograph and video of the banner outside the hospital on Twitter and wrote: "So me and @BobDifilippo decided to try and give the NHS staff at watford General hospital a lift with this gift of a message of appreciation as they leave from their shifts. @NHSuk STAFF (across the uk)...YOU ARE ALL HEROES, THANK YOU."

Among those to show their appreciation for the banner were Watford Council, who thanked Moore via Twitter for his efforts.

They wrote: "Thank you @The1881_wfc for putting up this lovely sign by Watford General Hospital. Thank you @WestHertsNHS and @NHSuk - true heroes!"
