Watford fell back into the relegation places on Tuesday evening after Aston Villa came from behind to beat them 2-1 away at Villa Park.

Troy Deeney had headed the Hornets in front in the first-half, but goals from Douglas Luiz and Tyrone Mings turned the game on its head.

Here's how we rated their performances.

Ben Foster - 6

Had little to do for the most part and dealt with most of which came his way. There was little he could have done to keep the winner out, although maybe he could have parried Matt Targett's effort away from other Villa players for the equaliser.

Adrian Mariappa - 5

The make-shift right back struggled with Jack Grealish all night and lost track of Targett in the build up to the equaliser.

Craig Dawson - 6

Made some solid tackles and did well in the first-half, but could have done more to prevent both Villa goals.

Craig Cathcart - 5

Was not quite as solid as Dawson, allowed Grealish too much space for the equaliser and very possibly fouled Mings during the build up to the second goal which could have resulted in a penalty had they not scored. Far from his best performance.

Adam Masina - 6

Did his job pretty well, especially during a first-half in which Watford did a good job of frustrating the home side. Lost track of Luiz for the first goal, however.

Nathaniel Chalobah - 7

Another really solid performance from Chalobah, whose substitution made a great deal of difference. The Hornets lost their shape and structure when he left the field and as a result invited more pressure than they would have liked.

Etienne Capoue - 5

Looked good alongside Chalobah, but really struggled without him. Looked very leggy towards the end of the match and couldn't prevent the Villa attacks progressing.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 5

Did well in the build up to Deeney's goal, but other than that, didn't offer a great deal going forward. A frustrating performance.

Gerard Deulofeu - 6

Another frustrating effort came from Deulofeu whose decision making was at times infuriating. Regularly delayed passes for far too long and his team-mates gave him an earful on more than one occasion for that. However, his cross to set up Deeney's goal was good.

Roberto Pereyra - 5

Collected the ball in some good positions, but did little with it. A lot of running around with not much to show for his efforts.

Troy Deeney - 7

Took his goal well, held the ball up nicely and provided a focal point that allowed others to come into the game. Should have scored a second to put Watford in a better position, but couldn't beat the experienced Pepe Reina.
