Watford extended their unbeaten run under Nigel Pearson to seven matches in all competitions with a goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Things might have been even better for the Hornets had Troy Deeney converted from the penalty spot, but nevertheless, they took another important step towards Premier League safety, while also keeping another clean sheet.

Here's how we rated their performances.

Ben Foster - 7

Commanded his area well and denied Lucas Moura with a smart save during the first-half.

Adrian Mariappa - 7

Struggled a bit with Son Heung Min in the game's opening stages, but adapted well and pressed high up the field to prevent Spurs from creating too much. Another solid performance from the make-shift right back.

Craig Cathcart - 7

Made some vital tackles and clearances against some tricky opponents.

Craig Dawson - 7

Was an important part of a solid defensive unit that remained compact throughout the match.

Adam Masina - 7

Another impressive showing from Masina, who has worked hard to make himself first-choice for the left back slot.

Nathaniel Chalobah - 7.5

Defended superbly throughout the game prior to his substitution and broke down almost everything Spurs tried to play through the middle. Another terrific performance.

Etienne Capoue - 6.5

Showed a wonderful range of passing from midfield, but could have been given a red on another day for one or two needless petulant challenges. Still had a decent game.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 6

Was unable to find the penetration that so often causes probelms for defenders.

Ismaila Sarr - 7

Gave Japhet Tanganga a very tough afternoon with his trickery down the right. Just couldn't provide that final ball.

Gerard Deulofeu - 6

Good work rate from Deulofeu, but little in the way of end product. Snatched at one or two chances that called for a cooler head.

Troy Deeney - 6

Should have been the match-winner from the spot, but instead was denied by Paulo Gazzaniga. Nevertheless, he gave the Spurs defenders some problems and is beginning to play much more like the player he was last season.

Subs

Roberto Pereyra - 5

Did little to change the game after coming on.

Ignacio Pussetto - 7

Saved the day with a vital goal-line clearance.
