Gerard Deulofeu and Kiko Femenia and thanked the former Watford head coach follow his sacking yesterday.

Gracia’s time at Vicarage Road was brought to an end following a poor start to this season and a run of only one League Cup victory in the last 10 matches in all competitions stretching back to last season.

It was announced soon after that Gracia is being replaced by Quique Sanchez Flores, who has returned to Vicarage Road for a second spell as head coach.

Following his permanent move from Barcelona, Deulofeu enjoyed a productive second half of 2018/19 under his fellow Spaniard and finished the campaign as top scorer, the standout moment being his stunning goal that kick-started the Hornets’ come-from-behind victory in the FA Cup semi-final against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Deulofeu posted in his native tongue on social media but translated via Instagram, he wrote: “You left great memories during the time you were here..and of course we stay with them..but beyond football we stay with your humanity and the good person you are. Thank you mister!”

Femenia also wrote in Spanish and said: “Thank you mister for everything you have given us and taught, it has been a pleasure to be able to work with you. Wish you all the best.”
