Kings Langley have been forced to postpone their delayed Premier League Central Division first home game of the season.
Dean Barker’s side were due to face Hitchin Town at the Sadiku Stadium on bank holiday Monday after playing their first four games of the campaign away due to pitch renovation works.
However, the Hertfordshire derby has now been postponed due to concerns over player safety.
A Kings Langley statement reads: “It is with huge disappointment that the club must announce the postponement of Monday’s bank holiday fixture v Hitchin.
“After trial use of the pitch last night it quickly became apparent there were concerns about the stability of the playing surface.
“A further considered view by the main pitch contractor this morning confirmed that the pitch was not playable at this time.
“The club recognises the enormous amount of work put in by everyone in preparation for this fixture but as always with decisions of this nature player safety must remain the paramount concern.
“Remedial work will begin immediately to keep the delay in staging our first home fixture to an absolute minimum.”
Kings will be aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the season when they visit Banbury United tomorrow.
