Matt Wallace will partner three-time champion Tiger Woods and 2018 Masters winner Patrick Reed in the first two rounds of The Open.

The tee times for the 148th edition of the major at Royal Portrush have been released and the Moor Park Golf Club honorary member will be in the same group as one of the sport’s all-time greats, whose remarkable career has seen him win the famous Claret Jug in 2000, 2002 and 2008.

Along with the 43-year-old 15-time major winner, the marquee group will also consist of Reed, who won last year’s Masters and also finished runner-up at the 2017 PGA Championship.

World number 23 Wallace heads to Northern Ireland fresh from finishing in a six-way tie for 14th at the Scottish Open, five shots behind winner Bernd Wiesberger, after carding a two-under-par final round of 69 at the Renaissance Club.

The 29-year-old missed the cut in his only previous Open appearance in 2018, but has made big strides in the majors this year, finishing tied third at the PGA Championship before ending in a share of 12th at the US Open.

The high-profile trio will be one of the later groups to get their campaigns underway at Royal Portrush and are due to tee off at 3.10pm on Thursday.

Moor Park-attached professional Callum Shinkwin is also in the field after successfully coming through Final Qualifying and he is set to tee off at 11.04am alongside fellow Englishman Garrick Porteus and Japan’s Mikumu Horikawa.

The Watford-born golfer will be appearing in the major for a third time, having missed the cut in 2016 and 2017.
