Watford owner Gino Pozzo and technical director Filippo Giraldi have made contact with the agent of PSV Eindhoven's Gastón Pereiro, the Watford Observer has been told.

The Uruguayan midfielder's agent Paco Casal is believed to have offered the player to AC Milan earlier in the transfer window, but now it appears the Hornets could be tempted by a move for the player and have made initial enquiries.

The 24-year-old's contract will expire next year, so he may be available at a reasonable price, with reports in the Netherlands simply stating a 'double digit number of millions' would be required to bring the player to Hertfordshire, while Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio suggests a transfer would cost around 20million Euros (approx £18m).

Pereiro has been with Eindhoven since 2015 and has scored 47 goals from 146 games in that time.

He is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the Copa America.
