Former Watford academy goalkeeper Sam Howes has signed a pre-contract agreement with Woking FC after being released by the Hornets.

Howes is technically still registered at Watford as a young professional, but his contract will not be renewed when it expires on June 30.

He announced via Twitter that he had signed a deal with the Cards, which will see him join the club on July 1.

Speaking to the Woking website after announcing the move, he said he was happy to have joined a club he described as "great".

"I'm pleased to be here at such a great club," he said.

"They've got a great fanbase as well so I'm looking forward to getting started.

"This year for me is massive. It's going to be a learning curve and I want to really push on from it.

"There were a few offers out there from elsewhere, but I thought this was the best one."
