LOSC Lille boss Christophe Galtier has confirmed the French club’s interest in Dodi Lukebakio, but says the Watford forward is one of four players they are interested in for a forward position.

The Belgian Under-21 international has attracted interest from a number of clubs following a successful season on loan with Fortuna Dusseldorf, with his 10 goals in a total of 31 Bundesliga appearances helping them to a 10th-place finish.

Reports over the weekend claimed Lukebakio had been offered a five-year deal by Lille, who are in the market for a new forward with Ivorian star Nicolas Pepe widely expected to depart in a big-money move over the summer.

Speaking to French TV, Galtier confirmed reports linking his club with Lukebakio were correct, but he is one of four names under consideration.

Galtier said: “He is a player with a certain potential, who is 21 years old, who is young…and who has a good season with Dusseldorf.”

Lyon and Schalke are among the clubs who have also been linked with the player, but Watford’s reported asking price of €20million could prove a stumbling block.
