Wealdstone have begun the search for a new manager after parting company with Bobby Wilkinson for what the club has claimed are “non-footballing reasons”.

Having guided Stones to a final position of seventh in National League South this season, Wilkinson’s departure comes after Stones' promotion hopes ended last weekend following their agonising 3-2 defeat at Woking.

Wealdstone have expressed their deep regret at Wilkinson’s departure but say they wish him every success for the future.

A statement on the club’s website reads: “Wealdstone Football Club can confirm today it has parted company with First Team Manager, Bobby Wilkinson with immediate effect for non-footballing reasons.

“Whilst the club deeply regrets this outcome, we would like to place on record our thanks for the contribution that Bobby, and his management team, have made during their time at the club.

"Under Bobby’s management the club reached the semi-final of the FA Trophy in 2018 and the National League South play-off semi-final this season and we wish Bobby every success in the future.

“The process to appoint a new manager to lead the club into next season is now underway and applicants wishing to express their interest can contact the club by e-mailing roryfitzgerald@Wealdstonefc.com.

“The closing date for applications is Friday 17 May.”
