Everton are to pay Watford £4 million compensation for their hiring of Marco Silva, in order to avoid a Premier League enquiry.
Watford had made a formal complaint to the Premier League last year after Silva left for the Toffees, as they believed he had been tapped up by the Liverpool club.
An inquiry could have led to a number of punishments for Everton, including a possible points deduction and the compensation has removed the need for such action.
Ahead of their game against Cardiff City, Watford released a statement on their website that said: "Everton and Watford can confirm that they have reached an amicable agreement regarding the appointment of Marco Silva as Everton manager last year. Both Everton and Watford are keen to move on from this matter. No further comment will be made."
