Herts Sunday Senior Cup Quarter-Finals

The Watford Sunday League is guaranteed a team in the final of the Herts FA showpiece Sunday competition after both Reed Rangers and Oakview set up a semi-final clash in February for a place in the final at Letchworth.

Rangers defeated Percival FC 2-1, overturning a one-goal deficit after suffering the worst possible start, conceding after just five minutes following a long ball over the top of their defence.

Reed continued to create chances but had to wait until five minutes into the second half to draw level as Louis Bircham laid off a weighted through ball for Dom David to slot home.

Nick Kerley won the game with 20 minutes remaining, bringing down a lofted ball and firing past the goalkeeper.

Oakview, meanwhile, won the all-WSL tie 4-0 against Rifle Volunteer, although for long spells the game was far closer than the scoreline suggests.

Rifle gave as good as they got in the opening exchanges. Sean Donnelly in their midfield was outstanding but it was Luke Beardsworth up front who broke the deadlock after 32 minutes with a shot from the edge of the box.

Beardsworth doubled his tally soon after, curling the ball into the bottom right corner, giving Tony Cornick in the Rifle goal no chance.

Rifle battled away in the second half, but the tie was put beyond them when their entire backline stopped playing and the onside Adam Lowton made no mistake.

Darryl Brown then headed home Luke Lloyd’s long ball to cap the scoring.

Middlesex Junior Cup Quarter-Final

Northwood suffered heartache in the worst possible way, going out 3-1 on penalties to AFC Brentford after a 0-0 draw after120 minutes.

Terry Devereux President’s Cup Group A

St Josephs and Rickmansworth Town may be struggling at the wrong end of the Premier Division table, but both sides booked themselves a place in the last four of the President’s Cup with 3-2 and 2-1 wins respectively.

Two goals either side of half-time put St Josephs in charge but opponents Old Danes Athletic fought back through Scott Volker and Ali Shale.

After pulling themselves back into the game though, they conceded three minutes after the equaliser, which was enough for Joes to seal a semi-final place. Anton Collins hit a double and Dillion Caton was also on target.

Rickmansworth won the derby against Chorleywood Club, going ahead when Sean Cabey latched on to the ball after the Chorleywood keeper fumbled and took it round him to slot home.

Early in the second half, Evans Lamboh volleyed in from a cross to double the lead before Robbie Martin set up a nervy finish with 20 minutes to go, but Rickmansworth held on.

Terry Devereux President’s Cup Group B

Old Fullerians sit in the last Group B qualification place while Evergreen are bottom after the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.

Evergreen took the lead in the first half when a ball forward was flicked back by a Fullerians defender, but it wrong-footed the keeper and rolled into the net. However, they equalised when Ryan Woosley fired in Stephen Pich’s flick-on.

Evergreen re-took the lead in the second half when a loose ball was pounced on by Ben Adams, but Fullerians equalised for a second time when Daniel Woosley blasted home.

WSL Intermediate Cup Round Two

First Division Bushey Sports Club needed penalties to defeat Second Division Ricky AFC, who belied their poor league form to hold the higher-ranked side to a 3-3 draw after extra-time before Bushey edged through 3-0 in the shoot-out.

In the game itself Rob Gradwell, Sean White and Joe Da Silva scored for Bushey while Shane Kitts’ brace and a Jordan Allen strike registered for Ricky.

Ken Simmons Memorial Cup Round One

First Division Croxley needed extra-time to finally overcome Third Division Chess United 4-3.

Croxley’s veteran striker, Thomas Hughes, put them ahead with a spectacular bicycle kick in the first half but Chess hit back in the second period, taking a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Dana Anderson, George Adams and Ben Bugeja.

Croxley staged a dramatic late comeback though, with Carl Pettitt bagging a brace to take the tie to extra-time before the shoot-out win.

Division One

With leaders FC Woodside not in action, it was left to both Tudor Athletic and FC Unicorn to close the gap.

Tudor recorded a 4-0 win over AFC Bedmond with all the goals coming in the second half. Jack Robertson broke the deadlock, heading home a James Fisher cross.

Gary Coyle then back-heeled in a second before Robertson turned provider for the final two goals in the closing 10 minutes for James Fisher and Grant Avis.

Unicorn defeated Langleybury CC 5-2 after they were given an early lead through George Kus, which was doubled by Sheldon Berkeley.

Oliver Ilott pulled a goal back for the home side before Berkeley nodded down for Kus to prod home for the third Unicorn goal.

In the second half, Matt Owens scored after a rebound, Conner Sills slotted home a penalty to reduce the arrears but Unicorn completed the victory thanks to Ralph Tamplin’s header.

Cassiobury Rangers are up to fourth place after a 4-1 away win over North Watford, coming back from an early Shoaib Ali goal, but the game was decided by three Rangers strikes just before the break.

The first was a header from Connor Callanan, before Rob Ladmore netted twice - a well-placed finish after the ball was slid over from Jack Henley and then a run from the half-way line before smashing into the top corner.

Jamie Scales saved two North Watford penalties after the break before Matt Ladmore completed the scoring.

Division Two

Everett Rovers went top of the table after they beat previous leaders Bushey Rangers 5-0.

The deadlock was broken when a long clearance by Everett goalkeeper Ryan Peach evaded the whole Bushey team for Ross O’Flynn to get the slightest of touches to score.

Playing with the wind behind them in the second half, Bushey continued with their direct game and failed to take several good chances until Jake Knight scored his first of the game, before netting his second and third after combining with with Luke Preedy.

Bushey where then reduced to 10 men and Everett took full advantage, adding a fourth thanks to bizarre own goal from over 30 yards out.

The fifth and final goal came from substitute Harry Panayiotou, who beat two defenders and smashed the ball into the top corner.

The Tree are still in the title chase after they beat Ardent 3-0 thanks to goals from Harry Rush, Triantafilos Skapetis and Nathan Davies.

Division Three

Ozzie Ogbebor scored the only goal of the game as leaders AFC Leavesden overcame third-place and fellow title contenders Oxhey Athletic 1-0.

He poked home a scrappy effort at the back post just before half-time to give them the lead but Athletic were to have most of the ball in the second period. However, their best chance was tipped over the bar by Luke Freeman.

Woodlands United moved into second after a 4-1 win over Oxhey Rangers, with Adam Rawlings scoring a brace. There was also a goal each for Ghenti Noxha and Lee Woodward while Michael Gilman netted for Rangers.

ACS Milan defeated Batchworth 2-0 thanks to a double from Scott Monaghan and the other game saw NWFC and Inter draw 1-1 after Chris Brock’s goal for Inter.

Division Four

It’s tight at the top with Hews and The Victoria level on points and goal difference with the two separated only by Hews scoring six more goals.

Chris Dunn struck a double and Stephen Noonan netted once as they narrowly held off the challenge of Sun Postal Sports, whose two goals came from Daniel Moss in their 3-2 defeat.

The Victoria had a 3-0 win over SOCA, who are themselves only a point behind Hews in third, but have played a game more than the leaders. James Farrell, Ben Staallard and Aiden Bigley got the goals.

RBL Croxley gained a second league win of the season, 4-2 over bottom-placed White Horse. They led 3-1 at half-time while the second period was a more even affair.

Will Keddy, Callum Hearn, Reece Gould and Jason Lebby notched the Croxley goals while Nelson Gomes scored both for their opponents
