Watford loanee Dodi Lukebakio has been nominated for the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Month award for December after his performances with Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The striker has been in impressive form this season, scoring a hat-trick against champions Bayern Munich and netting in a victory against league-leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Now the Belgian's efforts have been formally recognised by the league, who have nominated him as one of the standout youngsters in December, alongside Hertha Berlin's Marko Grujic and Jean-Philippe Mateta from Mainz 05.

Lukebakio played 45 minutes of Fortuna Düsseldorf’s 3-2 friendly defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Monday, with league action resuming on January 19.

Elsewhere, French right back Dimitri Foulquier, on loan at Getafe, had a tough time against La Liga leaders Barcelona, losing 2-1.

The 25-year-old played for just under an hour as goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez saw off the home side.

Meanwhile, Cucho Hernandez got another 85 minutes under his belt as SD Huesca earned only their second victory of the season against Real Betis.

Andrew Eleftheriou made his Braintree Town debut in a 0-0 draw with Halifax Town, while Jerome Sinclair featured for Sunderland in their Checkatrade Trophy victory against local rivals Newcastle United's under 21s.

Elsewhere, Randell Williams has returned to Watford following the expiration of his loan at Wycombe Wanderers, where he scored three goals in 23 games.
