Javi Gracia insists nothing is impossible and believes Watford have the potential to become the first team to defeat Manchester City in the Premier League this season.

The Hornets host the champions and leaders tomorrow night with Pep Guardiola’s side in irresistible form. City have won six consecutive games in the competition and their last two trips to Vicarage Road have seen them win 5-0 and 6-0.

But Gracia remains positive about the challenge facing Watford and thinks the hosts could yet upset the odds.

The Hornets head coach said: “Nothing is impossible. Always you have some chances. We want to take advantage of the chances we have. It will be difficult. We know that but playing at home with the support of our fans I’m sure we will have some opportunities.

“Even playing against Liverpool recently we had a very good chance at the beginning of the game. It was an important moment and if in that moment you are able to score maybe the game can change. We have to be ready for that situation.

“Everybody knows it’s difficult to get a good result against City but I think they have drawn twice this season and then maybe we are able to be the first getting a victory. You never know.”

Sergio Aguero, who remains a fitness doubt for the game, has ten goals in six games against Watford while City have scored 14 goals against them in the last three clashes.

But Gracia is turning a blind eye to the intimidating statistics which the champions can boast and is focused on putting his trust in his players.

The Spaniard said: “I prefer not to focus on the stats and numbers because if we see the stats maybe we prefer not to play.

“I prefer to have the confidence in my players and their work. In this way I’m sure we will have a good performance.”
