Tom Cleverley could return to the Watford squad for this weekend's trip to Leicester City.

The midfielder has not featured for the club since January after having surgery on his Achilles in the summer but he is nearing a return to the first-team fold.

Defender Jose Holebas is available again after missing last week's home defeat to Liverpool while Daryl Janmaat could also be back after featuring last week for the Under-23s following his recovery from a knee injury.

The only confirmed absentee for Saturday's match is forward Adalberto Penaranda with the Venezuelan carrying a slight foot problem.

Head coach Javi Gracia said: “In this moment only Penaranda is maybe not available. The rest of the players are fit and available for the next game. He had a little pain in his foot.

“They are ready [Holebas, Janmaat and Cleverley] but maybe they need more time to be in the best condition but they are training with the team all week.”

This weekend's game is the start of a hectic run of games in December for the club with Watford hosting champions Manchester City on Tuesday. But Gracia is grateful to have so many options available to him at this time of the season.

When asked if we will plan for rotation over the next month, the Spaniard said: “We will see. I prefer to first of all see the next game and then after we will take decisions before the different games.

"For me the most important thing is to know only Penaranda is out but the rest of the players and maybe Penaranda in two or three days will be ready as well. All of them will be fit for the next games which is good news for me."
