Javi Gracia expects his Watford players to offer a response to their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Hornets travel to Molineux after a two-week international break looking to end a run of five games without a win.

Gracia says training sessions throughout the break have been positive and believes Watford’s players are in a position to bounce back on Saturday.

He said: “I expect the best of my players because they are showing me in all the training sessions that they are committed and ambitious. We are going to play a good game in Wolves.”

While the 4-0 scoreline against the Cherries made for grim reading, Gracia feels Watford’s showing against Eddie Howe’s men was better than first viewing suggested.

He acknowledged nonetheless that Watford need to improve in certain areas and is hoping the Hornets will do just that against Wolves.

“I watched the last game many times in the last week. The first we 30 minutes we have competed well and had clear chances to score,” he said.

“We shot many times, attacked more, won more challenges, but they shot three times, two on target and scored two goals.

“We need to be more effective and try to improve that. After the sending off it was different and we took risks. We know it was only one game and we need to show all our desire and ambition in the next game.”
