Competition for places is a necessity at any football club and Abdoulaye Doucoure believes Watford have it in abundance in attacking positions.

The Hornets put four past Chelsea on Monday night and were dangerous going forward throughout a famous win under the Vicarage Road lights.

Gerard Deulofeu was the standout man in a front three consisting of Troy Deeney and a back on form Richarlison and has added a new dimension to Watford’s attack.

Roberto Pereyra came from the bench to score Watford’s fourth and Doucoure says Watford’s depth in numbers going forward is a strength for the club.

“We are happy and the attacking was very, very good. We have talented players as well like Pereyra who came on and scored,” Doucoure said of Monday’s famous win.

“We have Gerard and Richarlison as well, so we have a lot of players, Carrillo also, in competition in attack. The best players play and we are happy to have those players.”

A plethora of options in attack can only be viewed as a positive, but it is the impact of Deulofeu which has caught the eye since his arrival from Barcelona.

He brings energy and quality to Watford’s ranks and Doucoure is pleased to have the Spanish international at Vicarage Road.

“He was unbelievable today, scored a goal, made a difference and won a lot. Of course we are happy to get him in the squad and we want him to play that way every day,” he said.

“We are happy a player from Barcelona has come here and he comes with a lot of skill. We are happy to get him and to learn more about him. He knows the Premier League very well, so it is easy for him.”
