Wealdstone boss Gordon Bartlett has completed a triple swoop on the eve of the new National League season, signing Connor Calcutt, Matt Bevans and Ryan Case.

All three have been registered in time to be eligible for Saturday's season opener at Bath City.

Former Stevenage striker Calcutt had been expected to join the Stones after Bartlett told the Harrow Times earlier in the week he had offered a contract to the 21-year-old.

And on top of Calcutt, former Watford and Oxford United defender Bevans and ex-Braintree Town defender Case have also joined the Stones.

Speaking on Wednesday Bartlett said: “We have made him (Calcutt) an offer and he trained with us on Tuesday night. He is thinking it over and he will hopefully come back with a positive answer sooner rather than later.”

The forward scored twice in four games for the Stones last year before injury cut short his loan stay at Grosvenor Vale. Released in the summer by Boro, Calcutt featured in Saturday's 3-1 win over a Queens Park Rangers XI, too.

Born in Watford, Calcutt made his name with Berkhamsted before being spotted by Stevenage and signing for the Football League side in 2014. He scored once in eight league appearances for the Hertfordshire outfit, all of which came from the bench.

Versatile defender Bevans can play anywhere across the back four and arrives at the Vale after an injury-plagued few years.

The Enfield-born 21-year-old made 15 appearances for the U's across two seasons but a second serious knee injury cut short his 2014/15 campaign whilst on loan at Farnborough last season.

Finally, Case has joined after stints with Basingstoke Town, Braintree Town, Dorchester Town and Havant & Waterlooville. He will provide further defensive cover for Bartlett's beleaguered backline and made six appearances in the National League last term.
