The Harrow Times has asked each parliamentary candidate to list five reasons why they should become an MP at the General Election on May 7.

Here the Conservative Party’s Harrow West candidate Hannah David explains why you should vote for her.

1. Supporting Local Business – As a small-business owner, I know the challenges of starting a business and making it grow. Using my experience, I will fight to create a better business environment in Harrow that supports the jobs we need to secure a better future for our families.

2. Regenerating Harrow – I have been lobbying the Government to do more to regenerate Harrow and I’m pushing to secure an extension of Crossrail that will stop at Harrow & Wealdstone station. Boris Johnson has backed my campaign and has millions of pounds worth of funding available to support the creation of 3,000 new jobs and 2,000 new homes.

3. Standing Up For Local People – it’s about time Harrow had an MP that stands up for hardworking people. I have been leading the campaign against Labour’s £75 bin tax and their decision to raise council tax whilst wasting millions of pounds on spin doctors. Labour can’t run the council so how could they do a better job with the country?

4. Getting Tough on Crime – Crime is a serious concern for many. I regularly meet with the police to talk about the progress they are making on catching and convicting criminals. I am also working with local charities like the Ignite Foundation to ensure we stop our youngsters from getting caught up in gangs and ending up on the wrong side of the law.

5. Tackling Local Issues – It’s well known that Harrow has a real problem with litter and fly-tipping. Rather than doing something about it, the Labour council has cut the street cleaning budget for the second time in as many years. When the local authority can’t, or wont, take action on resident’s valid concerns it’s our duty to do something about it – and that’s exactly what I have been doing with my Rubbish Friends campaign.
