A BELOVED pet dog stolen during a burglary has been returned after celebrities joined the search on Twitter.

Three-year-old Molly was taken on Friday, January 6, when thieves raided the home in Stapleton Hall Road, Crouch End.

Distraught owner Caitriona Fox took to Twitter and Facebook to appeal for help finding the pedigree pug, finding support from stars including presenter Jonathan Ross, actress Sheridan Smith and model Bianca Jagger.

BBC's Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page wrote to more than 58,000 followers: “Anyone who lives in N4 area of London please look out for my friends dog. Molly was stolen yesterday.”

Ms Fox leafleted the local area and put up posters offering a £500 reward for the safe return of Molly.

And she sent out an avalanche of messages of Twitter looking for supporting and to raise awareness of the theft.

She wrote: “Those close to us will know how utterly devastated we are by this and we are asking for any information, at all as to her whereabouts or if you know of anyone trying to sell an adult pug.”

TV presenter Mr Ross replied: “So sorry to hear that. You poor things. Will retweet now.”

After a blitz of publicity, Molly was found last night walking alone in a park, having apparently been released by the thieves. The woman who found her searched on the internet for a missing pug and found details of Molly.

Ms Fox said to her followers: “This goes to show the true power of social media, without you all we may not have got her back so quickly.”

Police are investigating the break-in, and looking into eyewitness reports of two young black men seen carrying Molly away from the home.
