A FEMALE-ONLY electrician company was one of the companies at a jobs fair in Harrow for the construction industry.
Residents attended the Construction Futures event which featured major construction companies and training providers.
Exhibitors at Harrow Council's Civic Centre event included female-only electricians firm, Elecchicks, who were encouraging more women to pursue careers in the trade.
The event offered information on trade and professional jobs, from bricklayers to quantity surveyors. Visitors could also try their hand at practical construction tasks such as bricklaying, plastering and decorating while vacancies on local construction projects were advertised.
The council's leader, Councillor Bill Stephenson, said: “The council is getting its hands dirty to promote Harrow construction and training opportunities to Harrow residents.
“I was proud to receive bricklaying tuition from Harrow Skills Centre Tutor, Michael Connolly, who was working on a building site two years ago.
“We want local people at the front of the queue for job opportunities on projects such as the Rayners Lane estate.
“I was really encouraged to see so many people at the event, speaking to a solid range of employers and training providers. I hope that for many it lays the foundations for their future in construction.”
