POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was shot dead in Kingsbury.

Police were called to Queensbury Road by a member of the public at 9.50pm on Sunday to reports of a body on the street.

Douglas Yogarasa, 27, was confirmed dead at the scene. Police believe the he was walking home when the incident happened.

He was a single man who was unemployed and lived alone in Kingsbury. His immediate family live in Sri Lanka.

A post mortem held at Northwick Park Hospital mortuary on Monday gave cause of death as gun shot wounds to the head and body.

A small white van was seen leaving the scene at at 9.50pm. It was distinctive because it had tubes fitted to the roof running the length of the van. The tubes were white, around six inches in diameter and are of the type commonly used by plumbers to store copper piping.

Police are keeping an open mind regarding the motive.

No description of a suspect or suspects at this stage.
