A NOTORIOUS clamping company has continued to clamp cars outside homes in Wealdstone despite being shut down by the taxman four months ago.

Regional Clamping Services Ltd was forced into liquidation on February 25 at Slough County Court but clamped a car in Greenleaf Way two months later, an action the Security Industry Authority says is illegal.

Ray Khan, a 54-year-old solicitor, was the victim when he was clamped outside his own home by the rogue firm on April 25, and was ordered to cough up £333 in cash to stop his car from being towed away.

Mr Khan, 54, a solicitor by trade, said: “I have every document to prove that their actions are completely illegal.

“Two well-built goons continue carrying out the clamping operations under the umbrella of Regional Clamping Services Ltd.

“They do not observe any law and go about clamping people's cars without any let or hindrance.”

Mr Khan says the liquidated firm even put up new signs in the car park last week, but they were ripped down by angry residents, who are demanding action from police and trading standards.

Insolvency officials say they are taking enforcement action after the company's directors refused to cooperate with liquidation procedures.

Letters sent to the address, a car pound on wasteland in Iver, Bucks, which is printed on the firm's tickets, are rejected on arrival.

A2 Dominion Group, which is responsible for Greenleaf Way, cancelled its contract with the clampers when they were forced into liquidation.

But intriguingly it has hired a new firm called Regional Clamping Services UK, which was registered as a limited company on April 29 this year, to enforce parking in Greenleaf Way.

Fiona Cornell, the housing company's regional operational director, said: “We have acted in good faith on the information provided to us by our previous contractor.

“If we find this previous contractor has acted outside of the law, this would be totally unacceptable and we will firmly support our residents to claim back refunds on any illegal fines they may have paid."

Ms Cornell declined to comment on when new firm Regional Clamping Service UK Ltd was hired to enforce parking in the car park, or how it was contacted in the first place.

Despite repeated attempts to contact Regional Clamping Services Ltd, the firm has declined to comment on the illegal clamping ticket.

West Drayton and Iver phone numbers registered to the liquidated company both lead to the same answerphone asking callers to leave a message and someone will call them back, but the Harrow Times has received no reply.

One employee who picked up the phone said he nothing to do with Regional Clamping Services Ltd, but a woman who answered on the same number the next day confirmed she was an employee of the now-defunct firm.
